Max's O'Hartford 5k: Recap and Results!

Today I walked/jogged my first 5k, the Max's O'Hartford 5k in Hartford, CT!

It was SO cold outside, even while I was walking/jogging.
Thankfully God provided beautiful sunshine so I started warming up towards the end.

I am happy to say that I accomplished my goal to walk the race in an hour or under: I completed the race in 51:57 minutes!!!!

As soon as I saw the finish line I ran right to it!

Here are some pictures:

My cousins, best friend, and I before the race!

Pretty Hartford, CT!
Post-race happiness with the bestie lol!

I'm telling you, races are SO much fun!! Please, no matter what age, shape, or size you are, please complete a 5k! You'll feel so accomplished, healthy, and good about yourself! Not to mention the awesome medal you'll receive at the end!

Thanks so much for reading!!

Have a nice day!

No Excuses!

This past weekend was my niece's 1st birthday, so you know what that meant: cake, ice cream, pizza, PIGS IN A BLANKET MY FAVORITE! Sorry, I just love them so gosh darn much (I only had one!)

But, I had a plan.

I stuck to my plan some-what, but I did end up overeating on Saturday (her birthday), and Sunday (it was those darn leftovers!)

I felt terrible, like, did I seriously need to eat all that food? No!

But I was determined to brush this weekend off, admit what I did, and get back on track today, which was HUGE for me because SO many times during my weight loss journey I'd pig out one day, which would turn into weeks, then months, and then years (true story!)

I was dying to go for a nice outdoor walk today, but no one was available to take me, so who did I turn to?

Why no one but the amazing Leslie Sansone, of course!

I decided to try her 3 mile walk on YouTube. Since my sister was on our computer I used my grandpa's small iPod touch, and worked out in my small, messy room.

I only say this because I'm so glad I didn't come up with an excuse! I just did it and let me tell you it felt so good! Sure the floor was shaking a bit but I'm sorry, when it comes to me working out I've got to workout, no matter what!

I'm excited for this week because in a way I'm preparing for my first 5k this Sunday!!!!! So I want to walk or do some type of exercise everyday this week. I also have two goals:

Goal 1: Walk/Jog the Max's O'Hartford 5k in 1 hour or less
Goal 2: Reach 225 pounds by my next weigh-in on March 23rd (3 years ago I weighed 225 on March 23, 2012, so that would be HUGE for me!!!)

Also, how cute is this 'Trinity' Medal that the Hartford Marathon Foundation provides?! You get this medal when you register for all 3 O' 5ks in CT (photo credit: Hartford Marathon Foundation's Facebook page):

I REALLY hope they have this next year because I would love to do all 3 5k's and win this medal!

Anyways, sorry this post was super long!

I just can't wait for this Sunday and to post my results and also show you my swag! (I'm really hoping for a medal!!!!) ;)

God bless and thanks for reading!

Need to get back on the weight loss train? Try this!

Let's just say that I've been on a hiatus from weight loss and healthy living, that is until just a couple months ago.

It all started when I simply couldn't afford my addiction anymore: fast food.

By not eating that food I started to feel better, lighter.

In turn I wanted to get back on the exercise wagon.

I bought Leslie Sansone's 1 and 2 mile walk VHS's from a local library book sale for only $1!!

I started putting them to good use.

It was tough at first to get back into exercising, but since the 1 mile walks are only 15 minutes long, what excuse do I have not to do it? NONE!!

What's the best part about all of this???

You don't even need to own any of Leslie's videos to get a good workout in.

Just type in 'Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk' into YouTube and you'll see her many variations of her 1 mile walks pop up.

It's the perfect exercise when you haven't worked out for a while and want to start off with something simple, but effective.

I feel energized, accomplished, happy, and better when I workout!!

Give it a try and see for yourself!

Thanks for reading. :)

I walked the MRR again! 2014 results

Hey there!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! :)
Last year I walked the Manchester Road Race, and since then I think I'm going to make it an annual tradition.  After all, what's better than to spend your Thanksgiving morning running/walking the Manchester Road Race in Manchester, CT?!

The sun didn't want to shine on Thursday, so it was a cold, gray day. My legs were practically numb! The race is about 4.7 miles, and it can seem so long, especially when you're walking. I'm just thankful for the people on the sidelines who cheer us on.  There's also people who have little bands outside their houses and sing so that's pretty fun, too.

My finishing time was: 1:33:09
I know that if I can walk this 4.7 mile race, then I know I can complete a 5K, and you can too!
Post-race pic!

Thanks for reading and have a great winter/holiday/Christmas season!!

I met Jefferson Bethke!!!!!

Yesterday on Sunday September 28, 2014, my friend and I met Jefferson Bethke at Hillside Community Church in Bristol, CT.
I logged on to Facebook Saturday night, and I saw a status Jefferson posted about him coming to speak at Hillside church on Sunday morning!
I ran right upstairs and asked my grandpa, and with some convincing (he's famous! he's a NY Time best-selling author! Jesus saved him and changed his life! He's moving to Hawaii soon!) his friend agreed to take me and my friend on Sunday!

I was BEYOND excited to meet Jefferson.  He is such an amazing man of God and I love how much he loves Jesus, he wants to make Jesus famous, and really, it's all about Jesus!
Plus, I figured this would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience since as I stated above, he and his family will be moving to Hawaii soon!  (Alyssa, his wife, and Kinsley, their daughter weren't there but I sure would love to meet them someday too!)

Jefferson preached on The Prodigal Son, the story found in Luke 15 in the Bible.  What I love about Jefferson is that he sheds light and truth and makes you think about Scripture. He also provided some historical context so it was interesting to really dig deeper and learn what was going on.  There were many awesome points he made and I can't wait to listen to the message again!

After the service me and my friend met him and he autographed our books!  I think he was happy to see that I had his book and also Alyssa's book as well.  :)

I am still so shocked that we actually got to meet the guy who made the 'Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus' Spoken Word video on YouTube, and who also has a popular channel on YouTube. I watch his videos and I've read his book and seen his Facebook updates, so it was just such a privilege to have met him.  I'm so thankful to God that I saw that he was coming to CT on Facebook because if I had seen that afterwards, I would've been so disappointed that I missed out!  And I'm so grateful for my grandpa's friend who took us. :)

Me and Jefferson!!!!

I should also mention that he took my pen that he autographed his book with LOL!  Not sure if he kept it but hey, that's pretty cool!

I keep saying this but I really am thankful for this opportunity and I wanted to provide some links so you can check out his YT channel, Facebook, etc.

Welcome to my Blog!

I titled this blog 'The Miss Elaineous Blog' because when I was younger, I thought miscellaneous was two words!

Also because I couldn't think of anything better to name this blog since I'm going to have miscellaneous posts about home fragrance, book reviews, Christianity (like what I've been learning, what I'm struggling with, encouragement, Scriptures, etc.), college advice, and maybe even a touch of weight loss and getting healthy, although you can view my Weight Loss ONEderland blog here:  http://www.rwlonederland.wordpress.com

I know there are millions of blogs out there, and I want to thank you for taking the time to view this blog!

I hope you enjoy it and are encouraged by it.

Love,

Renee
