Max's O'Hartford 5k: Recap and Results!

Today I walked/jogged my first 5k, the Max's O'Hartford 5k in Hartford, CT!

It was SO cold outside, even while I was walking/jogging.
Thankfully God provided beautiful sunshine so I started warming up towards the end.

I am happy to say that I accomplished my goal to walk the race in an hour or under: I completed the race in 51:57 minutes!!!!

As soon as I saw the finish line I ran right to it!

Here are some pictures:

My cousins, best friend, and I before the race!

Pretty Hartford, CT!
Post-race happiness with the bestie lol!

I'm telling you, races are SO much fun!! Please, no matter what age, shape, or size you are, please complete a 5k! You'll feel so accomplished, healthy, and good about yourself! Not to mention the awesome medal you'll receive at the end!

Thanks so much for reading!!

Have a nice day!

No Excuses!

This past weekend was my niece's 1st birthday, so you know what that meant: cake, ice cream, pizza, PIGS IN A BLANKET MY FAVORITE! Sorry, I just love them so gosh darn much (I only had one!)

But, I had a plan.

I stuck to my plan some-what, but I did end up overeating on Saturday (her birthday), and Sunday (it was those darn leftovers!)

I felt terrible, like, did I seriously need to eat all that food? No!

But I was determined to brush this weekend off, admit what I did, and get back on track today, which was HUGE for me because SO many times during my weight loss journey I'd pig out one day, which would turn into weeks, then months, and then years (true story!)

I was dying to go for a nice outdoor walk today, but no one was available to take me, so who did I turn to?

Why no one but the amazing Leslie Sansone, of course!

I decided to try her 3 mile walk on YouTube. Since my sister was on our computer I used my grandpa's small iPod touch, and worked out in my small, messy room.

I only say this because I'm so glad I didn't come up with an excuse! I just did it and let me tell you it felt so good! Sure the floor was shaking a bit but I'm sorry, when it comes to me working out I've got to workout, no matter what!

I'm excited for this week because in a way I'm preparing for my first 5k this Sunday!!!!! So I want to walk or do some type of exercise everyday this week. I also have two goals:

Goal 1: Walk/Jog the Max's O'Hartford 5k in 1 hour or less
Goal 2: Reach 225 pounds by my next weigh-in on March 23rd (3 years ago I weighed 225 on March 23, 2012, so that would be HUGE for me!!!)

Also, how cute is this 'Trinity' Medal that the Hartford Marathon Foundation provides?! You get this medal when you register for all 3 O' 5ks in CT (photo credit: Hartford Marathon Foundation's Facebook page):

I REALLY hope they have this next year because I would love to do all 3 5k's and win this medal!

Anyways, sorry this post was super long!

I just can't wait for this Sunday and to post my results and also show you my swag! (I'm really hoping for a medal!!!!) ;)

God bless and thanks for reading!

Need to get back on the weight loss train? Try this!

Let's just say that I've been on a hiatus from weight loss and healthy living, that is until just a couple months ago.

It all started when I simply couldn't afford my addiction anymore: fast food.

By not eating that food I started to feel better, lighter.

In turn I wanted to get back on the exercise wagon.

I bought Leslie Sansone's 1 and 2 mile walk VHS's from a local library book sale for only $1!!

I started putting them to good use.

It was tough at first to get back into exercising, but since the 1 mile walks are only 15 minutes long, what excuse do I have not to do it? NONE!!

What's the best part about all of this???

You don't even need to own any of Leslie's videos to get a good workout in.

Just type in 'Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk' into YouTube and you'll see her many variations of her 1 mile walks pop up.

It's the perfect exercise when you haven't worked out for a while and want to start off with something simple, but effective.

I feel energized, accomplished, happy, and better when I workout!!

Give it a try and see for yourself!

Thanks for reading. :)
